Wild camping at Scales Tarn beneath Blencathra in the Northern Fells of the Lake District. We set off from Mungrisdale at about 8:10pm, climbing Souther Fell under moonlight before reaching our wild camp location at Scales Tarn about 10:00pm. The following morning we took a similar route to a previous walk, climbing Blencathra via Sharp Edge, then heading to the Bannerdale Crags and Bowscale Fell before descending steeply to Bowscale Tarn before returning back to Mungrisdale. See my blog for more: www.myalternativelife.net Our one week wild camping trip, starting off in the New Forest, we did plan to stay on a campsite here, but when we found out it was £18 per person per night we went wild. After a night in the new forest we travelled further South stopping off at Bournemouth and Poole. Glorious weather, it didn't seem like we were in the UK. :) Next we traveled into the heart of Dartmoor. Plenty of places to wild camp here and even streams with signs saying drinking water. After a good night in Dartmoor, we decided to explore. Stopping off for breakfast at a small town. We then started to find our next camping spot, we tried to camp next to Kennick Resevoir, but with signs saying no camping and lots of people about we kept looking. After hours of driving around thinking we would soon have to camp at the side of the road, we stumbled across what happened to be the best camping spot of the trip. An whole forest to ourselves and more dead wood then we could ever burn. The next day we traveled further north. Stopping by at Exeter we planned on Wild Camping in the forest of Dean. Whilst on the way into the forest, we stopped by at a downhill mountain biking event, perfect weather and great competition. It was getting late and we were losing light so we left in search of a camping spot. However the forest seemed very busy still at this time. We could not find anywhere to camp. The Bushcraft Show 2011 is located at The YMCA Lakeside, which is the largest outdoor centre in Europe, set in an area of outstanding beauty in the heart of the English Lake District. With over 450 acres of private woodland estate bordered by a mile and a half of shoreline onto Lake Windermere, it is considered one of the finest located outdoor centres in the world. A canoe trip to the Severn River Provincial Conservation Reserve near Bala, Ontario completed in August of 2011. We parked at the Nine Mile Lake Marina and paddled down the Upper portion of the Gibson River into Woodland Lake and then Brotherson's lake where we camped for the night. We returned via portages to Turtle Lake and back to Nine Mile Lake. The Upper Gibson is very shallow and narrow in parts with rougher portages and this gets one away from the crowds that accompany many Muskoka canoe routes. Watch in HD! A circular walk of Mosedale Valley including a wild camp / bivvy on Black Sail Pass from Wasdale in the Lake District. The walk starts from the car park below Yewbarrow, from here we followed the road alongside Wast Water to Wasdale Head. From here we passed the inn and headed into Mosedale valley. As the sunset we climbed Black Sail Pass and found a wild camp/bivvy spot before darkness set in. The following morning we climbed up to Looking Stead before leaving the ridge for the High Level Route at Green Cove. Here we followed the path to Robinson's Cairn through the cloud. After the cairn we climbed up to the Shamrock Traverse before finally viewing Pillar Rock through the mist. After Pillar Rock we ascended Pillar before heading to Little Scoat Fell via Wind Gap & Black Crags. The return leg then heads south east to Red Pike before descending to Dore Head and admiring Stirrup Crag on Yewbarrow. Climbing the crag we follow the ridge of Yewbarrow before descending back to the the starting car park. Music by Snow Patrol - Run & The Chemical Romance - Welcome to the Black Parade.
